Tim
runs one of the best resources on the internet and this issue is no
exception. It has two articles that are very important for the CCW
community. Pictured on the right is an older cover, but you can click
on the picture for the USCCA site.
The first is "Pistol
Transfer - Right to Left" by Gabriel Suarez. This is a very important
topic for all shooters. We at Carryconcealed.net wrote an article
months ago about the importance of ambidextrous shooting and practicing
ambidextrous. This article helps remind all of us to practice and the
article has some great reminders. "If you study any of the combat
martial arts, you will find that they involve both sides of the body".
Being a Blackbelt, this hits home.
The second article is one
that we get lots of questions on. Is it safe to DRY FIRE? The article
is written by Kathy Jackson and brings some of the safety points home.
If you are going to practice using dry fire drills, it is VERY
DANGEROUS. REMOVE THE AMMO FROM THE AREA!!!! Dry Fire can also help
with practicing as the price of ammunition is rising. Many of our
instructors recommend to use the dry fire drills and go around your
house in simulations with your entire family. Practice with the entire
family will help shorten communication in a real home invasion or
assault.
If you do not have a membership with USCCA you may want to ask for one for Fathers Day!
